The Summer Fun Begins

Water Day

On the last teacher work day and last day of daycare, the kids had a water day!  They had so much fun!  I was really surprised at how much the official last day of daycare hit me.  These people have been taking excellent care of my babies for the last two years and of course Jillian is too young to realize and understand that she won't see these people again, which I guess is good.  I cried enough for the two of us saying good-bye.  I had to pull it together on my way home when Jillian kept asking me what was wrong.

church picnic

After cleaning carpets on Saturday we loaded up our first load of boxes and headed to Hallettsville.  We officially have our house on the market to be leased and will be moving to Hallettsville hopefully at the end of July.  Our cleaning took longer than expected because we had to make a trip to the doctor with Grayson b/c he had fever.  Turned out he had another ear infection.  While I cleaned, James entertained him b/c there was no putting him down.  We made time to get to the Church picnic on Sunday and Jillian had a great time.  Grayson still wasn't feeling well but he was a trooper as always.

A cold beer cures everything including cutting teeth
Like mother like daughter - yes she is eating the cheese out of the nacho container with her finger.  I wonder where she has seen that

Camping

We made our first camping trip as a family of 4 + the dog at the end of April.  Luckily we had gotten a new tent from James' parents for Christmas so we were all able to fit comfortably.  Jillian was at the perfect age for camping it seems.  She never complained despite the falls and lack of nap.  She enjoyed riding her bike down to the bathrooms and playing in the dirt.  Grayson did well also.  He would sit and play with his toys and we he started fussing you knew he was tired and it was easily fixed with a walk around the campground in the stroller to put him to sleep.  The only downfall from the weekend was that it was VERY windy.  I woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday to find that the tent was falling in and was getting very close to where Jillian was sleeping.  I quickly woke up James and they were able to fix it.  It was so windy that 2 of our new tent poles bent but luckily we were able to replace them for free.

Had to rig the tents up to the tree to keep them from blowing down in the wind

Catch Up

Grayson is growing fast, especially in the last month.  He weighs over 20 pounds now!  He loves his food and has moved on to 8 ounce bottles.  Its hard to shovel the food in fast enough for him.  He is also starting to eat snacks but hasn't quite perfected bringing the snacks to his mouth by himself yet.  His favorite thing to do is grab them and then drop them over the side of the high chair for Bandit to get.  Grayson has also started talking much more.  We think he is more of a talker than Jillian was.  He has perfected his da da da da.  I guess that is only fair since Jillian said mama first.  We are going to PT every week now and he has made a lot of progress.  He is still not a fan of tummy time and can't hold his head up very well on his tummy so we have moved on to bigger and better things.  We are trying to build arm strength to learn to crawl.  He sits up pretty well on his own and has gotten much better at holding his head up while sitting.  You can easily tell when he is getting tired b/c he can't hold his head up as well.

We also have a teething boy - or at least we think - we have been saying that for months now!  We call Grayson our Drool Monster.  He goes through about 3 sets of clothes each day b/c they end up so wet.  He really liked it when I gave him a waffle to chew on but it didn't last long b/c Bandit came and stole it from him.

Jillian is doing well also.  The potty training is FINALLY catching on.  She is going potty - pee and poop all by herself now and she is so proud of herself.  She amazes me each day with the things that she says.  She is such a sweet girl!  She went with her daddy to the store to pick out flowers for me for mother's day.  After she picked them out she told daddy, "Hey, what about Granny?"  She knew that Granny was at our house as well and thought she need flowers for mother's day as well.  Jillian is so great with Grayson!  She loves to play with him and help.  She calls herself the "snack feeder" b/c she likes to feed him snacks.

Jillian had her first experience with sponge curlers and she was beautiful!
She has also been up to her normal self  helping mommy in the kitchen but she has developed a new way of licking out the bowl
