Picnic

We went to Hallettsville for the Memorial Day Picnic and had a great time. Jillian enjoyed helping peel potatoes the day before the picnic and then we enjoyed an evening at Uncle Father Jim's where we had Mass and Jillian got to make and fly a kite. Unfortunately those pictures are on Mom's camera though.

On Sunday we headed to the picnic and Jillian was acting like a monkey while we waited for the games to open!
When she wants her picture taken she can sure pose for pictures but when she is not interested she will definitely let you know

She also practiced her jumping at the pavilion. This is her new thing - she likes to run around and say, "I'm jumping!" I guess she was practicing for the jumpy castle.
Jillian was very interested in the games this year and was ready to go! Last year she was still really scared. I think it helped that on Friday afternoon she was invited to a birthday party at a jumpy place so she knew what it was all about by Sunday

She even wanted to do the big one, which I was concerned about b/c there were so many big kids in the way. She just patiently waited her turn though and when no one was around
she made her way up. The girl at the top was trying to help Jillian but she didn't want help, she wanted to do it all by herself.
She also enjoyed riding the train again this year
She also experienced her 1st snow cone. She is really into eating ice lately so we thought it would be perfect for her. Daddy even was smart by getting purple to match her dress

It was a great day but unfortunately we had to leave early since James and I both had to work on Memorial Day. We were not there when Mom and Dad's name was drawn to win a brand new truck!

It's a BOY!

We were so excited to find out a couple of weeks ago that we were having a little boy! Grayson put on quite the show for the camera even now. He was moving around a lot and then moving his mouth. He stopped held up his hand to look at it, then put his hand on his chin to ponder for a second, and then thought

"I think this would taste good"

So in the mouth the thumb went!

We are so excited to meet Grayson this October!

Projects/Changes

We have started many projects! Some are to get ready for our new addition (I'm trying to post ultrasound pictures of Grayson but the scanner isn't working so check back for those later) and others are projects that we have been wanting to do for a while.

We have started to transfer Jillian's room to the new room that she will share with her brother. She has been very helpful! When I started taking things off of the wall so we could touch up holes and start painting she wanted to help me box things up. Then when I started to tape off the room so that the pink could be turned into a turquoise blue, she of course wanted to help. I entertained her by giving her little pieces of the blue tape and told her that they had to go on the green part.
I don't have a picture of the completed painting but you can see the color in the next picture. Yesterday we started Project Big Girl Bed. Jillian cooperated well by taking a long nap so by the time she woke up, it was almost put together and she was excited to see what we were doing. Don't mind the half dressed child - we are also working on Project Potty Training.

She of course wanted to help again so she found a screwdriver and started imitating Daddy

When it was all put together she was happy to get on her big girl bed. I wasn't here last night but when James put her to sleep she went down very easily. He said it was so sweet to be able to lay beside her as he read a book and then she just told him "night night" and went straight to sleep. I heard her rolling around this morning at about 8:15 and found her awake in her bed but she didn't get out until I went to get her. I don't know how long that will last but it's a nice start.

The room is a little crowded with all the furniture but we figure they are small and all they need to do is sleep in the room since the toys are in another room.

We still have quite a bit of work to do with accessories and bedding but we have plenty of time. I was able to find her a comforter but we are going to accent it with some pink. Mom is making her a blanket for the bottom of her bed out of this floral print with a matching pillow sham and pink throw pillow. Grayson's crib skirt and the curtain will be made out of the stripe material.

We have also been working on our backyard. We decided it was time to actually utilize and give Jillian a safe place to play instead of playing in the driveway. This is still a work in progress but the deck was finished last week. We had an awesome contractor that was very reasonably priced if anyone is interested.

Step 2 was completing the extra fencing to fence off the covered patio and the side of the yard. This created Bandit's run so that when we let him out to go to the bathroom, he can only go to that side of the yard and the rest of the yard is not covered in poop!

Step 3 is happening next weekend and that involves laying the grass that hopefully we won't kill this time. Then we would like to put a playscape up as well but we will see how far we get this summer
