Camping

Jillian survived her first camping trip this weekend at Inks Lake with Kelly, Kevin, Klayton, Kensie, Mel, and DJ. She was a real trooper considering the 105 degree heat! She really seemed to enjoy being outside so much! Bandit enjoyed the trip too. This picture doesn't do him justice but he was filthy! His favorite thing to do was get in the water and then roll around in the dirt. He also enjoyed chasing the squirrels who were so obviously taunting him. He had to have a bath at the campsite before he was able to get in the car with us.
We were afraid that Jillian wouldn't sleep well while camping b/c she sure does like her swaddle and doesn't sleep at all without it - even naps. We knew we wouldn't be able to swaddle her in the heat but she had no problems sleeping. This is what we found Friday afternoon...
And this is what we found Saturday afternoon... She has never gone to sleep on her own before without being rocked but I guess when you are tired you just crash!
Jillian enjoyed playing with Kensie
And swimming in the lake

And of course time with her Mommy and Daddy!

Jillian also had her 4 month check up last Tuesday. She weighed 15 pounds, 3 ounces (75-90th percentile) and was 25 1/2 inches long (90th percentile). She had to go back in today for one more shot b/c they were out of it when we went last week. She gained 13 ounces in a week and was up to 16 pounds today. She sure is growing fast!

Father's Day

James had to work on his first Father's Day but he was able to spend a little time with Jillian and Mommy before he left. Jillian wore her "Daddy's Little Princess" onesie for the special day. Jillian litterally helped her Daddy open the presents she got him. She was surprisingly good at it. I guess she was excited to get in the packages because she knew they wore books about Daddy's that her Daddy could read to her.

Happy Father's Day, James!

Learning New Things

Jillian will be 4 months old tomorrow and she has been learning so many new things lately. She is growing so fast! She is getting much better at holding her head up when she is on her tummy. Just look at those adorable blue eyes!

She is starting to push up more on her elbows
She has now mastered the rolling over. She can go both ways now. As soon as you lay her down - she is off. She has also started scooting around a lot.

She also discovered her feet! She is always playing with her toes now. Jillian is also more aware of her surroundings. She has been looking at the animals a lot more lately. She especially likes watching Bandit. For those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Bandit, you know he doesn't stay in one place for long so he is a lot of fun to watch! It is a little difficult to tell in this video but Jillian is looking right at Bandit and talking to him. Of course the only reason Bandit is sitting so still right by her for so long is that we were eating dinner and he is begging for food.

We invested in an Exersaucer this weekend and Jillian loves it! She played in it for a whole hour the first time we put her in it. Mommy can sure get a lot done in an hour!

I survived my first week of work last week. It was a lot easier since Granny was here to stay with Jillian. I'm off this week and then go back for one more week and then I have the rest of the summer to spend with her and I'm looking forward to it. It was amazing how many things she learned in just one week.

Baptism

Jillian was baptized last Sunday in Hallettsville. The baptismal dress that she wore has been in my mom's family since 1910. It was worn by my mom's mother and all of her aunts and uncles and many family members since then. Jillian was the 76th baby to be baptized in the dress. Of course with the dress being so old it always makes you a little nervous when you are the one in charge of it. You definately do not want to be the one to ruin it!

My uncle was there to baptize Jillian. He has baptized all of the great grandchildren in our family. Jillian didn't cry when he poured the water on her head but she sure did jump!

She was an angel during the ceremony so of course afterwards for pictures she was starting to get a little fussy.

We had a nice party afterwards at Mom and Dad's. We had a great turnout and it meant so much to us to have so many people there to celebrate with Jillian.

Rolling Over

Jillian officially rolled over on Saturday at 3 1/2 months! She did it several times in a row which is how we were able to get it on video and she has it done it since. We thought it was pretty cool though!
